yes, yet somehow, the game is really laggy when L2 wasnt. Ive got no viruses or any of that jazz. ive done chkdsk /r to make sure the drive wasnt damaged, everything i could think of besides reformatting. Ill just wait for the tax return and stimulation check.

Game is pretty choppy for me too, but I reduced the view distances to 0 and unchecked full detail and shadows and weather effects, and I run on 1680x1050 with x2 AA without too much choppiness. And yet the game looks spectacular even with such low settings.

Naota, what kind of system are you going to be getting? I'm going to get myself an E8400 to go with my 8800GT 512 soon enough.

not too sure yet, but ive been talking with a few people, and they dont really care for dual SLI for vid. all i know is im limiting myself to a spending limit of 1500. gonna skip on the AMD this time and go with Intel, as much as I hate them, cant really argue with the current results. Im close to the point where im gonna reformat this machine anyway, so we'll see.

i built my pc for less then $700 (no monitor), and it took those screen shots from my dx10 post. that includes the price of vista premium.Edit: i guess i should mention that while taking those screens i was running at around 35 fps, so..performance+eye candy.

well, i know this is a derail of the topic, but hell, please gimmie input on what you think of the specs that im looking at right now.

Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6700 (4x 2.66GHz/8MB L2 Cache/1066FSB)
[Support QX9650 & 3-Way SLI] eVGA Nvidia nForce 780i SLI Chipset w/7.1 Sound, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0, 3-Way PCI-E MB
4096MB [1024MB X4] DDR2-800 PC6400 Memory Module Corsair XMS2 Xtreme w/Heat Spreader
GeForce 9800 GX2 1GB
1 TB HARD DRIVE [Serial-ATA-II, 3Gb, 7200 RPM, 32M Cache] (space not really needed, but in future, who knows)
16x DVD-ROM Drive
20X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive

and since im expecting my tax refund and stimulus checks by the end of june, if your all still playing requiem, ill be joining you then, though ill be way behind =P

Quite a hefty tax refund to afford all that, eh?

Not sure why you want to get an SLI board if you are just getting one VGA. I've done this myself in the past, I thought well I'll get one card now and then when it becomes cheap I'll get another and SLI them, but by the time it is cheap you can probably just buy one single new card which will be a lot better than getting the SLI. And the 9x nvidia series for my tastes is too expensive and not that much of an upgrade from the 8800GT 512 or the new G92 8800 GTS.
And why get a quad CPU? They aren't much use now, except for videos or "work". For gaming the dual cores are still superior, and by the time quad cores start pushing ahead a year or so from now on, you would probably be able to buy one for cheaper that will be a lot better than this q6700.

i agree with guitar as far as the quad core and the vid card, i was just reading reviews for the 9x series in the new pc gamer, and just like guitar said, the 8800 i still the way to go, personaly im using and 8600 1 gig, and it destroys mmo's.

Gah, I've been plagued with problems with this game since the start. First some of the clients were not able to patch 31.rtp, then I had a problem with constant crashes; the moment I log in I would crash. Now with this patch my updater just won't patch. Doesn't find any patch to download... gah this is worse than L2 was in beta.
