Yeah, it has such varied classes as "TANK" "HEALER" "RANGED NUKER" "AOE DPS" Amazing, never seen them in any other game before.
The RvR combat is tame at best, it's kinda like the WoW battlegrounds, but less fun, as the environments are too large, plus you can just walk out of the RvR area if somebody is chasing you, meaning we're gonna see constant border hoppers.
The public quests are an ok idea, but killing mobs for half an hour with 6 other people for ONE good item to drop that you can't even use and everybody rolls need on so they at least earned SOMETHING means nobody will do them.
Classes are unimaginative, gear looks dull, combat feels floaty as hell (you just feel as if you're vaguely suggesting what moves your character should use, not solidly controlling them in combat), dull and dark environments with almost no variation in textures or lighting.
It's a bad WoW clone in every concievable way. I'd rather play LotRO than WAR, at least LotRO is a GOOD WoW clone.
Now unless you've played it, kindly stop defending it. Every game is made to sound awesome before you buy it.
my olny thing to point out is LotRO is about 5 times more fun than WoW considering there is a constant story throughout the game, as well as the fact the only thing youll ever want to grind for is increasing your race/class deeds. My own personal opinion regarding the burgler class, they suck. The Captain is basically a paladin with a "pet" that follows you around carrying a banner and helps you fight. Guardians are fun if you enjoy tanking, Champions are incredible DPS machines with decreased survivability, even when you hit 20 and can use heavy armor. Minstril is healer, Hunter is basically a nuker and has no pet (making it feel similar to DAoC in a sense), Lore-Master is basically CC, backup healer, and some decent dmg. if im missing any, its because i cant remember right now.

when Naota says "lotro is 5 times more fun the WOW" this is opinion, not fact obviously ^^, personaly, even with dx10 enabled, making the game damn near photo realistic, i couldent stay entertained in lotro, i reactivated my account 2 times now, and still stopped before i hit lvl 20,the fighting is just kinda lame,doset realy seem to pack a "ummmff" if u know what i mean, idk, something about it just isent right,kinda like EQ2, which was a descent game, just couldent hold my attention (sept i got to 55 er so on that 1). As far as wow, i actualy stopped playing l2 for a few months,which is just crazy, and i dident get bored untill i hit 70 and clocked another 90+ days of /played time. LOTRO is a cliche game in my OPINION, i would say that people who loved the books will love the game, but personaly i was raised on the books and i still got bored pretty fast. If Lotro had come out at a different time, maybe i would be more sucked into it,but with l2 and wow on my plate now, and a few more games coming up i wanna try, i just cant justify sinking into LOTRO, maybe ill fire up again on rainy day....a very rainy day, till then, i woulnt be giving turbine any more money unless they pump out an Asherons call 3 =[] I played ac2 untill they shut it down =[

I agree that the combat is kind of bland, but my opinion for it being better is mainly because you play out a story that runs parallel to the books, and its help my interest so far, but that is just my opinion. its really up to each person who plays to decide on their own whether it is good or not. I was never able to enjoy AC.

True, it's all subjective. As much as I warn you off WAR, all I can do is state my experiences of the game. Hell, I played Lineage 2 for years and many people absolutely hate that.
I just wanted to clear up some WAR misconceptions.
Chi: Well, you did go about it in a blunt/semi-rude sorta way mate. The majority of us were members of the L2 WarCry site when it was getting massive traffic, and was one of the best L2 fansites around (3-4 years ago). Eili, being one of the L2 WarCriers, likes to pop in to say hi every now and again.

Yea, they're pulling some aspects from WoW, and what's wrong with that? Is it stupid to take a couple of the good things from the single most successful MMO ever? No. It's a good move, that way they can steal more WoWers because of the familiarity they'll have with certain parts of WAR. Unlike Blizzard, Mythic isn't raping the Warhammer lore with every turn, unlike WoW. WAR is a RvR-centric game, with a rather small focus on end-game PvE, unlike WoW which is wholly PvE-focused with terribly unbalanced and boring PvP. What are they really copying from WoW that hasn't existed for years in MMOs? I'd really like to see some examples.

One word for your last point, battlegrounds. WoW seems to me like the only MMORPG with instanced battlegrounds. I havnt seen every MMO game, so dont jump in pointing out some game which has blocks for graphics, as I must have stupidly been born centuries late. I also recall saying that its a clone being spit polished so why the need to tell me how wrong I am by saying the right thing?

No, I havnt played the game or even saw many videos of it. But I did read about the character classes, and the fact that every race has their own unique class types, which they do, makes it look great. You can just say they have a tank, mage, healer and archer class but that seems more like a balance to me. Remember, its still in the beta phase so dont assume its always going to be crap dummy. =P

And no, every race doesn't have unique classes. For one, the classes are perfectly mirrored for the good and evil races. Each race has an opposing race who has an identical set of classes, just with different names. Hell, even their skills are identical, just called different things.
Orcs / Dwarves are the same Humans / Chaos are the same Elves / Dark Elves are the same
So that narrows your class choices down to 9 at best (each race has 3 classes) but wait! there's even overlap in those classes! The Black orc and the Chaos Champion are basically the same class! The human witch hunter and the chaos marauder are the same thing! ohnoes! Overall you've got about 4 class choices.
Yay for diversity.
Oh and as for the whole career paths thing - it's a watered down version of the WoW talent point system. Wheras in WoW a warrior can be an all-out tank with awful DPS or a DPS machine with fairly low survivability, a tank class in WAR can NEVER do decent DPS, they're just a few additional skills.
I'm gonna leave this discussion now. I was thinking about it at work, and considering the variety of styles MMOs come in, I don't feel it's really possible to get accurate information without first having that person list all the MMOs they've ever played and why they've liked or disliked them, and I'm way too lazy to do that.

Right... I havnt played it, so does that automatically make everything I say wrong? Of course not, you dont need to play a game to have an opinion of it, you just need to play the game to find out wether the opinions correct. I could be wrong, I admit it, but I dont think so. I just think your just ranting about the game, as you just dont like it (stating the obvious, whatever).
Remember, its still in a beta stage so those things you could hate now could be improved on. Also, remember the part where I said WAR is a polished clone of WoW...
